St. Mary's parish started restoration in 1991 with roof repairs costing over $465,000. This debt has been paid thanks to pledge drive contributions from the parishioners, fund raisers, and of course, donations and membership dues. This is quite an accomplishment for a parish with less than 100 participating households.
St. Mary's Restoration Committee had requested the services of Chicago based Inspired Partnerships to do a Historic Structures Report. Inspired Partnerships, is a non-profit charitable organization, which offers numerous programs to assist congregations in the effective management of their aging buildings.
The Historic Structures Report on St. Mary's included a comprehensive conditions survey of the entire church. Repairs were prioritized into immediate, short term, and long term categories. The intent of the HSR is to provide a comprehensive overview of capital building repairs and maintenance for the next twenty years. The report revealed the total bill for this restoration will be more than $1 million dollars.
