Community Service Program

The City of Kankakee Kankakee Community Service Program is coordinated by the Kankakee Police , Nuisance Abatement Team.  The City of Kankakee has made work available twenty four hours a day and 365 days a year.  Persons who owe Community Service must register to work in the program.

Workers must register at City Hall with Erica Bedolla or Johnny Short.  Work will be assigned or coordinated by the NAT.  The focus of the work involves community beautification. The most common work involves picking up litter, hand mowing city parkways, shoveling snow on bridges and intersection walkways, land applying leaves and chips, washing equipment  and  painting...

No workers are turned away from the program and a  work schedule will be tailored to the needs of the individual worker and the City.

After business hours workers will report to the Shift Commander.

If you owe time to another County, your probation officer must approve of you working out of their county to assure you receive credit for hours worked.
